ACCOUNTANT/ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

The Embassy is recruiting a positive, pro-active, open-minded, detail-oriented Accountant/ Administrative Officer.

 

You will be working in a team of dedicated and highly professional colleagues. The main task of the Administration Section is to ensure a smooth administration of the Embassy, the Ambassador’s residence, office cars etc. As an Accountant/Administrative Officer your main focus will be on the Embassy’s accounting. You will also be participating in the daily routines in other administrative areas. You are expected to show the flexibility required for an optimal handling of the entire portfolio of the Embassy and thus be ready to contribute to handling tasks outside your own portfolio.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities as an Accountant/Administrative Officer

·        Daily accounting and bookkeeping in accordance with MFA-issued guidelines, in cooperation with economy department

·        Management of major procurement for the embassy and residences, in cooperation with the Consul

·        Assistance with the drafting and conclusion of various contracts for the embassy, including maintaining an overview of contract terms, expiry, and renewal dates

·        Keeping control of the income from visa and consular fees, including fees received by bank transfer from the Visa Application Centre;

·        Issuing invoices on behalf of the Administration and the Consular Department;

·        Keeping control of the bank balance and daily contact with the bank;

·        Writing misc. bank letters;

·        Payment of electronic bills related to the chancery and the Ambassador’s residence;

·        Under the supervision of the Consul: Managing local purchases for chancery and the Ambassador’s residence;

 

Required qualifications

·        Strong IT skills (MS Office Programmes and Navision).

·        Experience with daily expense bookkeeping;

·        Fluency in Turkish;

·        The working language of the Embassy is English; therefore, fluency in written and spoken English is a necessity. Selected candidates will undergo testing in order to assess English language level;

·        The job requires a bachelor’s degree or similar vocational administrative qualifications and/or relevant working experience;

·        Prior experience from another diplomatic mission is preferred

·        Strong ability to navigate in and comply with complex rules, procedures, and guidelines;

·        Ability to work in inter-cultural environment;

·        Strong team spirit

Employment conditions

·        The contract length is initially 12 months with the possibility of extension.

·        You will be offered a full-time position and be appointed according to regulations for Mission Employed Staff at the Royal Danish Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye

·        Your standard working hours will be 40 hours per week

·        You will be entitled to 4 weeks of paid holiday per year

·        Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results. Salary is set and paid in EUR

·        Employer’s pension contribution varies according to residence status in Türkiye

Deadline: Friday, 10 April 2026 (midnight). Selected candidates will be invited for interviews expected to take place in late April. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.

 

The selected candidate must provide a “Certificate of Criminal Record” and successfully pass the Danish security clearance process conducted by the Danish authorities prior to appointment. The security clearance, which may take up to four months.

 

The successful candidate is expected to commence employment on 1 June 2026 or as per agreement.
