MEDIA ANALYST AND TRANSLATOR  

The Royal Danish Embassy in Ankara is seeking a locally employed academic staff member to join the Embassy’s political/economic team covering Turkish domestic, regional and foreign policy as well as international cooperation. As part of the team, you will get a unique opportunity to experience and contribute to the diplomatic work at an embassy.

The Media Analyst and Translator will be an important part of the political/economic team at the Embassy. Primary tasks include undertaking daily analysis and briefing to management on the political developments in Türkiye and the region, supporting Embassy staff in translation of meetings and documents as well as supporting with analysis and administrative tasks, including cultural affairs and public diplomacy efforts of the Embassy and supporting and occasionally standing in as Personal Assistant to the Ambassador. The officer will also assist with high-level visits to and from Denmark. Finally, the officer will be expected to assist with a variety of other tasks, including export promotion, organising public events and coordination of affairs with other diplomatic missions in Ankara. The officer will carry out tasks independently as well as in close cooperation with colleagues in the political/economic team. Some tasks will involve cooperation with colleagues in other teams.

The Danish Embassy in Ankara is a collegial and dynamic international working environment with more than 60 colleagues across several teams. The Embassy works closely with the Danish Consulate General in Istanbul.

A potential successful candidate will have obtained a relevant degree in journalism, political science, economics, law or a related field from a recognised university. The position requires sharp analytical skills, excellent communication skills, written and verbal, both in English and in Turkish, as well as good interpersonal skills and a high degree of independence and flexibility. Knowledge of the political landscape in Türkiye and the region is an advantage, but not a requirement. It is a requirement for the position that the officer arrives early every day at the Embassy and does a daily media analysis for Embassy management. The Embassy is looking for a candidate with a strong relevant background as well as good networking and communication skills. The candidate should be willing to work independently, be flexible, and be a team player. The candidate should also be able to prioritise and accomplish tasks ensuring a high degree of quality, while working independently and meeting set deadlines.

Conditions of employment

Recruitment will take place under local conditions. The salary will be agreed according to the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The position is a full-time position. The contract length is initially 12 months with the possibility of extension. Working hours are 40 hours per week starting from early mornings. Additional work may be required in certain periods and will be compensated with time off. Employment is subject to the candidate obtaining a Danish security clearance. The successful candidate is expected to commence employment on 1 June 2026 or as per agreement.
