Turkish experts visiting Denmark to look at approaches and lessons learned within wastewater and sludge management

This week a group of experts from Turkey visiting Denmark as a part of the on-going strategic sector cooperation project between Danish and Turkish national environmental authorities. The so-called SSC project has the title “Waste and Resource Management” and run until mid-2019.

The background of this project and delegation is that the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation is developing a national wastewater and sludge management action plan in order to deal with the increasing amounts of wastewater sludge. This sludge represent not only an environmental challenge but also a potential resource.

This delegation trip to Denmark provided the participants in-depth insight in Danish approaches and lessons learned within wastewater and sludge management and get inspiration from the most recent research and new technologies within the sector.

The programme of the delegation trip included for example a visit at VCS Denmark (Vandcenter Syd) in Odense.

At VCS Denmark the focus was on energy reduction via monitoring/control and operation/education.

The purpose of this delegation trip is to provide input and inspiration for the development of the national action plan on wastewater and sludge management. As a part of the SSC project on waste and resource management Danish experts are going to support the work on the national action plan carried out by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.
